Misgivings about shopping online?
The protection of personal data is of paramount importance to Lufthansa City Center and its affiliated sales partners. The collection and processing of personal data that you enter when visiting our website are conducted in compliance with the rules under the German Data Protection Act.
To protect your data from accidental or even deliberate manipulation, loss, deletion or to protect it from access by unauthorized third parties we put in place technical and organisational security measures. These security measures are continually optimised in accordance with the latest technological developments.
In some instances the booking of products on the Lufthansa City Center website is processed by partner companies. In these cases the visitor is, within the Lufthansa City Center web-environment, on an external partner booking machine, which in turn operates a self-contained security system that meets the highest security standards. From this point on the respective operator (airline, travel agent, event organiser) takes on the responsibility of guaranteeing customer security.
The user is able to check that his/her data are in fact within a secure area by way of the changed URL. In order to make this visible he/she must "right-click" (properties) on the actual link and will then notice that the URL has changed from "http" to "https".
SSL Technology
In order to process the booking we require the name, address, birthdates and information about the desired payment method of the user. These data will be coded using SSL Technology (= Secure Socket Layer). Access to your personal booking data (name, address, credit card number,...) by third parties is therefore impossible. We use the following security certificates:

Personal data is information that can be used to find the user`s identity. These include information such as the correct name, address, postal address and telephone number. Information that is not directly linked to the actual identity (such as favourite websites or number of users of a website) is not classed as personal data.
Passing on personal data to third parties
The Lufthansa City Center obligates to use the respective user`s data that has been collected, processed and stored during registration and/or during the use of the Lufthansa City Center services solely for its own purposes and for the purpose of the processing of contracts that have come into existence through the cooperation with Lufthansa City Center and that it will not pass these data to external third parties as long as it is not obliged to do so by law or official decree, e.g. to combat misuse, in particular credit card fraud.
US customs authorities stipulate by law for all airlines to make available the flight and booking details of each passenger. These data are used by US customs authorities solely for reasons of state security.
Data transfer to government offices or authorities are only effected in compliance with current legal regulations.
Each time that content of these website offers are accessed, general information is automatically stored (e.g. number and duration of visits to individual web pages). These data do not constitute personal data. They solely serve the purpose of statistics and to optimise our internet provision.

The user has the right - upon request and free of charge - to receive information about his/her personal data stored by us or our partners. In the unlikely event that incorrect information has been stored, we shall amend the information upon the request of the user.
Use of Cookies
The Lufthansa City Center uses "Cookies" (small files with configuration information) in compliance with the Informationsgemeinschaft zur Feststellung der Verbreitung von Werbeträgern e.V. (IVW) [Information Assoc. for Media Circulation Facts and Figures]. They help in establishing user frequency and number of visits to our website and assist in increasing user convenience.
Lufthansa City Center stores information such as the user ID (user identification) in the "Cookies". In addition, the allocation of the customer`s data may take place which offers the user the convenience of not having to re-enter all his/her personal details again when making a booking.
The Lufthansa City Center offers can also be used without a "Cookie". Most browsers are set up in such a way that they accept "Cookies" automatically. The user may, however, deactivate the storing of Cookies or set his/her browser to notifying him/her, as soon as "Cookies" are sent. In this case the user has to re-enter his/her customer details.
Registration
In some categories, such as Hotel, Wellness and City Tours, which are processed by our partner lastminute.com, the user has to register with his/her email address and a password. The registration is done in order to be able to offer the customer the convenient reuse of master data during recurring bookings or to access and check travel itineraries.
Data transfer via email
When the customer receives emails from the Lufthansa City Center, these will, of course, not contain any "critical" personal data.
